DJ from BFPE International is here early with us making sure we're good to go with our Exit/Emergency lights and is also breaking down our fire extinguishers, giving them a good inspection inside and then refilling them for service. Got to keep that stuff in good shape just in case! We use BFPE for our alarm system and, if you're looking for fire or intrusion detection alarm systems, give them a shout and check 'em out! π
*As an aside, using the big box stores fire extinguishers at home (Kidde and the like) is not the best idea or plan. Get the real deal from places like this, the cost between the junk and the real deal isn't that great. Call your local fire station and ask what they recommend and where to get them if BFPE is too far out of your way... money says they won't recommend big box store fire extinguishers. π
Emily and her boyfriend are first time customers in to check us out and knock out a quick oil change - Badda Bing Badda Boom, DONE!! They know it's done correctly and they know exactly what's in their crankcase - and it didn't cost them any more than taking it to a quickie joint where one doesn't know either of those things. π
Time for a "pick me up" or, as it's also called, "a lift kit install" lol. Steve's here for HIS pick me up for his pick 'em up - his F350's going up annnnnnnnd he's saving a boat load of money DIYing it over the course of an afternoon instead of being charged a grand by a shop and not having his truck for a week. π
Blanca's a first time customer with us today; he's here because of a failed State Inspection. They failed him for a tie-rod end, and that's easily fixed. Out the door and off to get an alignment - he'll be good to go for another year easy peasy! π
Service Mentor Position!
Weβre always on the lookout for someone whoβd make a good fit at our shop, with our current mentors, and most importantly, with our customers. π
Retired? Youβre not looking to be in the rat race? Thatβs perfectly fine with us, weβre not a rat race and thatβs exactly what we want! You wonβt be turning a wrench for hours on end, we want you for your experience, your knowledge and your gearheadedness! Currently enrolled in an Automotive Tech School and looking to start gaining some real experience? You're going to see all manner of things come through our place!
The job consists of helping our customers with their projects, making sure theyβre doing things safely and keeping the shop and tools clean. We are looking for individuals who are not afraid of getting their hands dirty, are highly motivated, and have great personalities who can give guidance to our customers when needed.
Send along some sort of resume/job history/school transcript to hr@americandiyg.com because weβre looking for people whoβve seen it all, whoβve βbeen there and done thatβ and have lots of experience with a huge variety of vehicles. Itβs also a plus if you like alpacas and shop dogs and have your own T-Rex costume. π
David and his girlfriend came in today with two vehicles (an F150 and a Subaru) to knock out some maintenance on both. Today is a simple brake job; there's no way they'd pay a shop to do something they can save more than half the money on by spending 90 minutes on a lift on a nice day. As an aside, it's no problem bringing in multiple vehicles; we'll just rotate them out as you finish 'em up! π
Day One of an engine swap! One of the biggest jobs we get here (I'd guess a "cab off" job or shoehorning a Big Rig in here would only be bigger), they tend to go multiple days simply because of alllllll the things that have to be considered and checked then re-checked while pulling everything out... and then swapping stuff to the new engine. When we have an overnighter like this we'll just basically make sure all the tools get cleaned and returned to the tool chest and tool crib, then we'll leave it to our customers if they want to pick up and put away the stuff they've got out or leave it where it lies; their choice. Either way, that bay won't be touched until they get back the next day to start right back up again. We've had really good luck with swaps like this and it's pretty rare to not get 'em finished up and driving out the door - Evan and his F150 got 'er done! π
Welp, now I understand why we seem to have a never-ending supply of dinner rolls with every meal. π
Orion's spending an afternoon with us working an audio system upgrade in his Chebby S10 Pick 'em up Truck. It's a lot nicer being out of the elements (especially when it's gusting to 25mph π) and having everything right at hand that might be needed to remove interior pieces or install new speakers. π
